What is an "Official Translator?"

How do I gain access to the translator interface?

Official Translator

There are three types of translation on the Essentials 24 site:

  • Machine Translated: Automated, rough translation with no human intervention. Upon arrival at a new page that has no official translation, the software will send the master text to Google Translate and a machine generated translation will be returned. (appx 75% accuracy).
  • Wiki Translation: Users can submit suggestions for corrections with are then stored with their record and offered as help to other users. (90% accurate)
  • Official Translation: This version is our permanent record in the database and is loaded upon arrival at a page. Suggestions can still be offered, but for the most part this version should only have minor updates.

Becoming an Official Translator

The process is to make a request and be granted admin access. You can make the request to an Essentials administrator. If not known, you may be asked for translation proficiency and for your relationship to Essentials (staff, employee, hired contractor, etc.) After approval, the admin will simply grant you admin access to the translation module.

Admin Access

After approval is granted, translators log into the Essentials24.org site in the normal fashion. Click on the menu link in the upper right and you will see an option for Admin Options. Click it to get to the translator options.

For specific instructions on how to do translation, you should read, "Doing Translation."  Please note that this answer contains a very detailed 9-minute video that explains how to do translation.

If you need assistance with requesting admin access, you should read, "Admin Access." This also contains a video that will walk you through how to request admin access.
