How do I login and how do I know if I'm logged in?
What is a "User Account" and how do I create a one?
How does a user account relate to a "Partner" login?

Note, there are detailed images illustrating these points at the end of this article.

Overview of Login

The use of the the phrase "login" doesn't just mean using a username/password combination. We use a method that allows people to login in one of two ways: 1) traditional username/password; 2) using a social partner like Google Plus, Facebook, or the Key.

How to tell if you're logged in

In the upper right side of the site, there is a blue bar. If it is blank or says, "Log Out," you are already logged in. If it says, "Log In" next to your language choice, then you are not logged in. Also, if you are on a smaller device, you may instead have a "hamburger" menu icon that you need to click to expand.

How to Log In

Click on the right side of the blue bar where it says "Log In". Use one of the provided options to login.

Create a New Login Account

To create a new login, click in the blue bar "Log In" tab in the upper right header. Options will appear in a drop down window. There are two login options; using a social partner or setting up a username/password account. Choose one of these two methods to proceed with creating a login account.

Username/Password is Just ONE Login Method

Be careful not to confuse a login with a username/password account. You can "login" in one of a number of different ways. Creating a "username/password" is just ONE of the ways to login. But if you use your email each time and have a validation code sent to you, that is still a login account.

Username Account and Partner Accounts

The two options for creating a login account are best explained in this way.  The Username/Password is the traditional way that you would log in to a website.  The username can be your email address, but doesn't need to be.  The password is a letter/number combination of at least 6 characters.  The Partner Account uses a recent web trend to allow individuals to use the login credentials from an associated site.  When you choose this method, you will be asked to login to your partner site and agree to share some details (email address, full name, gender, etc.). If you decide to use a partner login (Facebook, Google Plus, or The Key), click on the button for the desired partner. To create a new username/password account, click on the link at the bottom of the center column called "Create a Username/Password." Once clicked, simply follow the onscreen instructions. To recover a password for an existing login, click the "Send Code to Email" link in the last button.

If you attempt to create a username/password account and one already exists for that email address, you will be sent a validation code to your email that you will need to enter to proceed. This protects the identity of users from invalid entries.

These steps are used to create a username/password. If you want to use a Partner Login, then choose the appropriate Partner login option in the drop down.
